Illegal Slot Machine Gambling Ring

It would seem that if all accounts are true, there has been a rather large illegal slot machine operation going on in Baltimore County for quite some time. According to federal agents, there is an $18 million illegal slot machine operation that is linked to dozens of bank accounts and properties across the county. 

They say that allegedly Cockeysville resident John Zorzit had been running an illegal slot machine operation right under the police's nose. They say that he was supplying illegal slot machines to more than thirty locations – including liquor stores and taverns, and did so between 2003 and 2006. They have filed an affidavit with the US District Court last week, and they allege that they have proof from undercover agents who played the slot machines. 

They said that they had several agents play the slot machines which had the illegal "point clearing" mechanisms installed on them. They say that under the law they have the right to seize all of the properties involved in the illegal slot machine operation as they were practicing illegal gambling. 

The idea behind the suit is that the prosecutors do not need to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt in order to gain possession of the properties. They say that it is simply part of another investigation that also involves the IRS and the county's vice squad. According to police although search warrants were issued on the slot machine locations, Zorzit has not been charged with a crime yet. In addition to the seizure of the slot machine locations, they are also seeking roughly 14 bank accounts as well.
